Growth-hormone secretagogue
Ipamorelin
A synthetic pentapeptide acting at the ghrelin receptor; pharmacodynamic activity is not the same as proven clinical benefit.
Why it is discussed
Growth-hormone release, recovery, and body-composition claims
Ipamorelin is discussed for stimulating growth-hormone release, often in recovery, sleep, anti-aging, or body-composition conversations. Human pharmacology studies show hormone-release activity, but they do not establish the broad marketed outcomes or long-term safety of self-directed use or peptide combinations.
What it is
A synthetic peptide that activates the ghrelin receptor.
Ipamorelin is a five-amino-acid peptide and growth-hormone secretagogue: a compound that stimulates growth-hormone release. It acts at the ghrelin receptor, also known as the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor. This is different from the GHRH receptor targeted by tesamorelin or the studied CJC-1295 analog.
How it works
Growth-hormone release through a different receptor pathway.
Receptor activation can stimulate pituitary growth-hormone release. Early cell and animal studies found a relatively selective growth-hormone response compared with some other releasing peptides. That experimental selectivity does not prove an absence of other hormonal effects or establish human safety.
The ghrelin pathway also participates in gastrointestinal function. Ipamorelin has therefore been investigated in a human trial of bowel recovery after surgery, not only in growth-hormone research. That trial did not establish a significant improvement in its primary efficacy measure.
Neither a hormone response nor a proposed gut mechanism establishes muscle-building, anti-aging, or recovery benefits. Combining it with another hormone-releasing peptide requires separate evidence; different targets do not automatically imply a safe or useful combination.
Scientific / evidence sources
Evidence at a glance
What is established—and what is not.
Limited human pharmacology plus preclinical evidence
Human pharmacology studies support growth-hormone release activity under studied conditions.
Clinical benefit for recovery, sleep, anti-aging, body composition, combinations, and long-term use remains unestablished.
Regulatory status
Canada and the United States are checked separately.
Health Canada lists injectable ipamorelin among unauthorized peptide drugs; no authorized human product was identified in the current review.
No FDA-approved product. FDA identifies characterization and immunogenicity concerns and limited safety information for injectable routes.
Regulatory status describes product authorization and relevant regulatory context. It is not a complete legal opinion about possession, importation, prescribing, sale, or professional practice.
If you are reviewing a product report
The molecule profile and the testing report answer different questions.
This page summarizes evidence and regulatory context. A laboratory report may address identity, purity, or quantity for one submitted sample; it does not transfer clinical evidence or product authorization.
